1) How much are the fees to grow hemp and when are they due?

The application fee is $100 and is due with the application no later than March 15 each year. The background check fee is $47 per person and is due with the fingerprint card and waiver no later than March 15 each year. The license fee is $1,200 and is due 15 days once you have been notified of your application's conditional approval.

2) How do I create a map of my growing location?

The map must include the following items:

1. The global positioning location coordinates taken at the entry of the proposed licensed growing area in decimal degrees. 2. The global positioning location coordinates taken at the approximate center of each lot in decimal degrees. 3. The boundaries and dimensions of each lot must be outlined with one single boundary line. 4. The exact area (acreage or square feet) of each proposed lot.

3) Kansas educational institution’s and hemp?

The university of Kansas, Kansas state university, Wichita state university, Emporia state university, Pittsburg state university and Fort Hays state university. Each have implemented programs in purpose of hemp research and development within the industry.

4) What is the difference between hemp producer vs hemp processor?

“Hemp producer” means any individual, licensed or otherwise, engaging in the cultivation or production of industrial hemp for commercial purposes pursuant to K.S.A. 2020 Supp. 2-3906, and amendments thereto.

“Hemp processor” means a person registered under K.S.A. 2020 Supp. 2-3907, and amendments thereto, to process and manufacture industrial hemp and hemp products.

5) Reports and How to File in order to grow hemp in Kansas?

License Application

Each individual seeking a license to grow or cultivate industrial hemp March 15 each yearNo later than March 15 for each subsequent growing season

Planting Report / Guidance
The commercial industrial hemp producer licensee No more than 15 days after each planting, including replanting of seeds or propagules; must provide USDA FSA hemp acreage reporting information

Hemp acreage reporting information must be filed with USDA-FSA; please consult your county FSA office

Pre-Harvest Report
The commercial hemp producer licensee No fewer than 30 days prior to each intended harvest date

Voluntary Destruction Report

The commercial hemp producer licensee No more than 14 days after conducting the effective disposal

Harvest Report
The commercial hemp producer licensee No more than 15 days after each harvest

License Expiration
The commercial hemp producer licensee December 31 of each license year
